Enjoy A Piece of Arizona, Sculpted by Desert Fang
Tim Bienfang goes right to the heart of the desert. Traveling the hillsides and washes, Tim (aka Desert Fang) locates rocks and dead wood indigenous to the area. Utilizing these and other items, such as insulators, horseshoes and metals, he creates many useful items for your home and fine arts for your walls or foyer.

Made from a fallen limb of the Ironwood tree found in the low desert of Arizona and highlighted with turquoise inlay, this beautiful vase was a commission to the artist.
The buyer filled an opening in her foyer with this vase and a tall arrangement of dried flowers for a stunning view upon entry into her home.
Size; 20" tall with an 8" diameter at the base. The weight is very heavy, at about 15 lbs.

The beauty of this butterfly unfolded before the artist as he cut through the limb of the Ironwood tree. This limb was very unique, in that the hard red center of the tree was so small in comparison to the lighter wood surrounding it. The lighter wood is the bark, whose job it was to nourish the tree. Perhaps due to the excessive heat, this particular tree needed to store extra water for the dry times.
The body of the butterfly was formed out of the root of the Ironwood tree. Indigenous to Arizona, the Ironwood tree is one of the hardest woods found on the continent, requiring special metal cutting tools to cut it. The wings are inlaid with Amethyst, Red coral and Turquoise, adding the color the butterfly requires.
The butterfly rests atop a shiny copper leaf, fashioned after the Cottonwood trees found in the low and high deserts of Arizona. Copper mining has proven to be very lucrative in arizona. Size; 15"X19" - weight 5 lbs.
